Two Sauces, One Pot: Pasta Dinner

Hi! It’s been a while since I blogged a recipe on here, but this one was on my mind for so long! I used to eat this particular pasta dish when we went over to my moms friends house, and my siblings and I loved it so much, my mom eventually learned the recipe to make it for us every week. Now I make it for my husband and my soon-to-be 10 month old-and all I can say is that this is a must in your home!

The secret: Two Sauces!

Note: I don’t cook with exact measurements. These recipes are meant to be felt, tasted, and adjusted-measure with your heart and eyes like I do!

Ingredients List

  • onions

  • garlic

  • olive oil

  • salt

  • pepper

  • paprika

  • dry Italian seasoning

  • penne pasta

  • Rao’s marinara

  • Rao’s tomato basil

  • ground beef

Directions

  1. Cook the pasta

Cook your pasta according to the package directions. Once done, drain and set aside.

  2. Sauté the onions and garlic

Loosely cut the onions and add them to a pan with olive oil over medium heat. Grate in fresh garlic-I like to use a lot-and stir it all together.

  3. Add the ground beef

Once the onions and garlic are cooked down, add in the ground beef. Season with salt, plenty of black pepper, paprika, and Italian seasoning. Mix everything together and let the beef cook, until it’s browned.

  4. Add the sauces

When the beef is close to being fully cooked, pour in Rao’s marinara & Rao’s tomato basil (Rao’s is actually the best, tried and true sauce-the other sauces just don’t do it for me). I fill up one of the jars about halfway with water and add the water to the pot too, to loosen everything up. Let the pot come to a simmer.

  5. Mix in the pasta

Once simmering, add in your cooked pasta and stir everything in nice and slow, until it’s all evenly coated in the sauce.

  6. Serve!

Serve this warm with your choice of salad, bread, or any topping you like! We love some parmesan cheese!

This one’s definitely on rotation for me and my family! Let me know if you try it @homewiththekeys on Instagram.

Hugs and kisses from my table to yours! Catch you later!
